Fuel Dispensing Nozzles
Fuel Dispensing Nozzles
Fuel dispensing nozzles (fuel dispensers) with automatic and manual shut-off are used for refueling vehicles, aircraft, and filling consumer containers with light and heavy petroleum products.
Each nozzle consists of a removable valve assembly, which controls the liquid flow and collects vapors through the nozzle body. Some nozzles are equipped with a vacuum-actuated automatic shut-off system, preventing liquid from leaking through the nozzle. The shut-off mechanism can also be magnetically controlled.
The fuel nozzle allows precise control of the refueling process. It has a handle with a trigger, which, when pressed, releases fuel and can immediately stop the fuel flow when released.
Types and Features of Fuel Nozzles
Fuel dispensing nozzles come in various modifications, including:
- Basic models with a simple fuel flow control function.
- Advanced models equipped with fuel flow and pressure sensors, tank fill level indicators, and monitoring systems.
- High-precision sensors ensure that only fuel is accounted for, eliminating the possibility of air measurement errors and preventing customer fraud.
Safety and Maintenance Guidelines
Since fuel is highly flammable, it is essential to follow strict safety precautions when using fuel nozzles. Gas stations must comply with fire safety regulations and have appropriate firefighting equipment readily available.
- Fuel dispensing nozzles must be in proper working condition; all components should be inspected before each use.
- The working parts must be free of cracks, chips, or any mechanical damage.
- The trigger must operate smoothly, without excessive force and should return freely to its original position.
- Electronic sensor-equipped fuel nozzles must be regularly checked. If a malfunction is detected, the nozzle should be immediately removed from service and replaced with a functional unit.
