Gilbarco Veeder-Root Expands Its Business Portfolio
Gilbarco Veeder-Root has announced its decision to invest in the development of global electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.
As a subsidiary of Fortive Corporation, Gilbarco Veeder-Root has made a minority investment in Tritium, a private company specializing in the production of EV charging stations.
Founded in 2001, Tritium focuses on the design, development, and manufacturing of fast-charging solutions for EVs. In 2014, the company introduced its first DC fast charger, and since then, it has become a global leader in the industry. Today, Tritium's equipment is installed in 26 countries.
Gilbarco Veeder-Root will distribute all Tritium charging solutions, including the high-power Veefil-PK charging systems, which can fully charge an EV in just 5 to 10 minutes.
These high-power charging systems use an innovative liquid-cooling technology, allowing them to be more compact than other high-performance chargers. Their advanced cooling system reduces wear and tear on internal components, extending the overall lifespan of the charging units.
Tritium’s leading position in EV technology provides Gilbarco Veeder-Root customers with a unique opportunity to build and expand EV charging networks.
Statements from Industry Leaders
Martin Gafinowitz, Senior Vice President of Fortive, stated:
"Our partnership with Tritium is a natural step in the long-term growth strategy of Gilbarco Veeder-Root. These investments allow us to address the rising demand for fast-charging stations, which remains one of the key barriers to EV adoption."
David Finn, CEO and Founder of Tritium, commented:
"Gilbarco Veeder-Root’s interest in Tritium further highlights our expertise in EV charging technology. This investment also sends a strong signal about the future of EV charging stations in the fuel retail sector."
Tritium’s Global Expansion in 2018
In 2018, Tritium announced new partnerships with clients worldwide, including a deal to supply Veefil-PK fast-charging systems for the IONITY network.
IONITY is a joint venture between BMW, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company, and Volkswagen Group, aiming to develop 400 fast-charging stations across Europe.
As part of this initiative, Tritium became the first global supplier of 350 kW charging stations, reinforcing its position at the forefront of EV charging technology.
