Oil, Gas, and Fuel Industry Workers' Day
Oil, Gas, and Fuel Industry Workers' Day
Dear Colleagues!
We are all links in a common chain,
From extraction to fuel in the tank.
We provide warmth for our country,
So that goods can reach the shelves!
On this day, we must remember
Our shared contributions to success.
May the earth remain rich and full
Of black gold, coal, and gas!
We congratulate all gas station employees, fuel dispenser operators, manufacturers, and suppliers of equipment for the oil, gas, and fuel industries on their professional holiday – Oil and Gas Workers’ Day!
Oil and Gas Industry Workers’ Day is a professional holiday celebrated annually on the first Sunday of September.
The history of this holiday dates back to October 1, 1980, when the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR issued Decree No. 3018-X "On Holidays and Memorial Days," which, among other things, established Oil and Gas Industry Workers’ Day, to be observed on the first Sunday of September. On November 1, 1988, the Supreme Soviet of the USSR issued another decree (No. 9724-XI) amending the legislation on holidays, but these changes did not affect this professional holiday.
At the time, all Soviet Socialist Republics celebrated this holiday together as administrative units of the USSR. However, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the situation changed. Some post-Soviet republics moved the holiday to another date, some changed its name, and others abolished it altogether.
Yet, many countries sought to preserve the best traditions established during the Soviet era. As a result, today, Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan continue to celebrate Oil and Gas Industry Workers' Day on the first Sunday of September.
