Installation and commissioning of fuel storages and tank farms
Tanks for GSs. Containers for GSs
Thanks for GSs (gas station) or containers for GSs - a vessel designed for storing various types of fuel that is the main component of the GS, made of steel or polymer materials that allows storing fuel reserves at the GS for subsequent delivery.
The reliability and trouble-free operation of the entire filling station depends on the quality of the steel tank installed at the GS.
Today, almost all steel tanks are manufactured in the form of cylindrical horizontal vessels that have flat or conical bottoms, technological tie-ins for pipe strapping and technological hatches for maintenance.
Purpose of tanks for GSs
The main purpose of the tank at the GSs is to store fuel, protect fuel from external influences, and prevent fuel leakage into the environment. In addition, GS tanks storing fuel are the basis of any gas station and the rest of the infrastructure and communications are already being built around them, the area occupied by the tank farm of the gas station significantly exceeds the installation area of other facilities and structures of the GS.
Features of installation and operation of fuel tanks at GSs
Due to the fact that if fuel leaks, it may ignite or even explode, fuel tanks and fuel containers used at modern GSs must meet a number of safety requirements.
1. Tanks for GSs storing fuel are made in a double-walled design, and the inter-wall space is filled with a liquid that is more dense than the density of the stored fuel. This construction of the tank makes it possible to prevent fuel leakage into the environment in case of damage to its body.
2. The tanks used at the GSs are placed in the ground to a certain depth that again allows it to be protected from external influences. Placing the tank in the ground significantly reduces the likelihood of an explosion of the fuel contained in it, because even if the fuel leaks, it does not fall under the possible influence of sparks or an accidentally thrown cigarette.
3. The tanks at the GSs are installed away from the fuel dispensers, where people most often visit, this allows to limit the access of outsiders to the fuel tanks themselves.
4. Special attention is paid to the strength of the tank body, its tightness, since the wall thickness of the tank for the GSs is at least 6 mm.
